Private Classes-Children under the age of 3 may start learning martial arts in a private setting. Additionally, private classes can be provided for any student seeking personal one-on-one sessions. Private lessons are available for both martial arts and academic tutoring.
Dailies- Similar to "bellringers" in school, dailies are review techniques that students are responsible for practicing right when they step onto the mat.
Belts- Belts are used in both the MMA and BJJ program at SMA. The MMA program has it's own belting system. This system is strictly used as a teaching tool for instructors and a motivational benchmark for the students. The belts do not certify a student in any specific martial art. Most MMA programs do not use belts. There are two belt systems in the MMA program: one for kids and one for adults. The belt systems look like this:
Once the student has received their green-black belt they will remain there until they are ready to move into the adult belting system at 13.
If you would like to enter into grappling tournaments outside of the academy, please ask a coach what belt you should wear to the tournament as rule sets differ between tournaments.
